MEET GARY BRACKETT
Born and raised in Glassboro, New Jersey, Gary Lawrence Brackett has always considered himself to be a small-town boy at heart. During his time attending Glassboro High School, Brackett played the role of a two-time All-South Jersey selection, a two-time All-Group I, and a two-time All-Tri-County Conference choice.
Being a walk-on to the Rutgers University football team, Brackett earned a full scholarship during his second year and fell more in love with the sport. By the time that he left the university, Brackett had already served as Defensive Captain, led the team in tackles, and earned MVP and Big East all-conference honors. While this incredible senior year brought him success, Brackett remained undrafted by the NFL in 2003. Gary did not let this challenge defeat him; instead, Brackett managed to earn his way onto the Indianapolis Colts’ roster as a free agent.
Prior to founding the Brackett Restaurant Group and Gary Brackett’s Impact Foundation, Gary Brackett found himself playing as a successful linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL.
Throughout his time with the Colts, Brackett played as a backup for his first two years until he became a starter in 2005. That year, Gary successfully had 127 tackles, 3 interceptions, and a sack. In 2006, Brackett was named the Defensive Captain of the Colts with 120 tackles. Gary started for the Colts in their own Super Bowl XLI win over the Chicago Bears. In 2007, Brackett recorded 116 tackles and 4 interceptions, and 99 tackles in 2008-2009. Gary started for the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV against the New Orleans Saints.
After his retirement from the Colts in 2010, Brackett found himself engaged in sports commentating—something that he enjoys even today. Eventually, his attention was turned toward entrepreneurship.
In 2014, Brackett graduated from the Accelerated Executive MBA program at George Washington University. After his graduation, Gary focused his efforts on the restaurant industry with the establishment of his own company. Gary currently acts as President/CEO of Brackett Restaurant Group that is proud to boast brands such as Indy’s #1 Neighborhood Sports Bar: The Stacked Pickle. This company has over 10 locations and was won numerous awards for its excellent service and famous dishes. Brackett Restaurant Group owns several other casual dining brands along with a full-service catering company.
